2023 CAN-TECH Spring Conference: Back to Basics Bootcamp

This year, CAN-TECH is taking a fresh approach to Spring Conference. Remote work has left knowledge gaps in practice fundamentals necessary for success as a junior practitioner in Technology Law. This program will focus on closing those gaps by providing core literacy on key transactional issues for technology lawyers.

We will be hosting a one-day program with hybrid in-person and webcast sessions from five satellite locations across the country. Join us at one of our five locations to get insight beyond the classroom from our panels of leaders in the technology law field while getting to know your local colleagues.

Please note that there will not be an option to attend this conference remotely.

    Spring Conference Co-chairs:

Danielle Graff, Partner, MLT Aikins LLP

Danielle has a corporate commercial practice with a focus on technology, privacy, commercialization, and the health-care and agriculture and food sectors. She provides assistance to a diverse client base, from small businesses to large public and private corporations. Her experience includes assisting clients with outsourcing arrangements and procurement of information technology services and software, advising clients on privacy law interpretation and compliance issues, providing support in the implementation of IT systems and programs, and assisting both the developers and customers of e-commerce platforms.

Danielle also has experience advising clients on IP strategy as well as drafting and advising clients on licensing, transfer, and other commercial arrangements regarding IP. She has also been involved in commercial transactions that include the purchase and sale of IP assets. In her general corporate commercial practice, Danielle regularly advises clients on a wide range of matters including corporate governance and regulatory and compliance matters.

Jacob Kojfman, Senior Legal Counsel, The Co-operators Group Limited

Jacob is Senior Legal Counsel at the Co-operators Group Ltd., practicing in the areas of commercial contracting and technology law.  In his current role, he is supporting the Co-operators in its digital transformation, by reviewing, drafting, and negotiating tech-related agreements. Prior to this role, he was Senior Legal Counsel at the Canadian affiliate of a global-IT services company; where he supported numerous stakeholders, including some proprietary SAAS solutions, to advance their mandates.

He has been a panelist or speaker at a number of legal conferences. In October 2022 he was part of a well-received panel at the Association of Corporate Counsel (ACC)’s 2022 Annual Meeting on “IP Issues in Commercial Transactions”, and a panelist at CAN-Tech’s Fall 2022 Conference speaking about the intersection of lawyers’ competence and duties to client and the use of technology to meet those obligations. In 2021, Jacob participated in a fireside chat alongside Davide Tollen for the CBA British Columbia’s IP/IT section meeting “Technology Contracting – Top 10 Tips and Traps”, where he and David discussed the pre-dominant issues in technology contracts, and earlier that year he authored a very popular ACC article “Top Ten Issues and Tips to Consider When Negotiating Contracts for Cloud Solutions.” He completed the “Certificate in Drafting and Negotiating IT Agreements” in 2017. He has been on the executive of the CBABC IP/IT for a number of years now. In every conversation he tries to slip in his Peloton handle, @Obi1Jacobi.
